“You don’t sell a product; you sell a solution to people for their problems. If they like your solution the most, they’ll be your customer”
Brandstorm is the marketing competition held within XIMB-XUB to judge students on the parameters of their creativity, pitching power and the belief in their selling capability. The sole of this competition is to provide a unique solution of the student’s problem. The process itself is a great learning for all the participants. This is the main advantage of this competition that it happens so early in our MBA days that students thinks about the solution from their fresh minds and build their learning from that base. It gives them a snapshot about how their journey will be in marketing in these two years.
Being greatly involved in the competition I experienced and lived this event from the core. From submission of an idea to pitching it there were many faces of the competition which was an enthralling experience. On the way forward this journey I found this event unfolding its stages and inculcating the whole college to be a part of it. Starting with submission of presentation to gather the votes from students for your idea, the whole process judged us on our promotional capabilities. The competition could have been more captivating if students were requested to give a model of their idea in front of all the students and then students would be told to cast their votes. The ratio of judge’s choice to student’s vote should have to be 30:70 so as to save the competition from being biased to specific students. Student can be asked to present a video/short clips instead of presentation at the final stage so that they can convey exactly their product.
The name Brandstorm itself gives a feel of a contest and generates enthusiasm among students which is a vital component of a competition’s success. With the Brandstorm comes the fun, learning and PRIZE MONEY .
